Originally from France, Laure Mouniamy has over 12 years experience. She studied in the school ”La Bonne Graine” boulevard Voltaire in Paris and worked alongside recognised Upholstery industry masters, before bringing her trade to Clonakilty in West Cork.
Modern upholstery uses synthetics such as foam, polyester material and strong glue. It uses staples to fix the layers which makes it faster and less expensive.
Traditional Upholstery uses natural fibres such as horse hair or coconut coir for stuffing and different layers of natural materials such as wool, cotton calico, hessian, jute, hemp.
Bench seat cushions, conservatory cushions, garden cushions, chairs & sofa cushions made into shape, french mattress, scatter cushions & window seat cushions.
For some, choosing fabric is a daunting task. With so many colours, patterns, prints & textures, it can be hard to know where to start.
Laure did some beautiful upholstery work on an antique sofa & other antique chairs. Her work was professional & her craft was an art to watch. Firstly she took the sofa back to his frame. She reupholstered it as it might has been originally. Her rebuilding the sofa from the bare bones to restore it to its elegant present state was done with a quiet competent & respectful adherence to every original material and the craft itself. She is awesome ! A rare find in today’s disposable world.

Laurie recovered two armchairs for me, both beautifully done in traditional upholstery in the time...
