This beautiful couch, was a very special piece to my client belonging to her mother.
As a family keep sake, my client wanted her couch to have a total control on the quality and look of the fabric.
Because of her sentimental value for the sofa, I suggested her to pick a Traditional upholstery work to ensure her that it would last and become the new heirloom of the family going through generation.
I unstripped the old fabric and stuffing that was originally inside & bring it back to his bare bones before the traditional work begin.
While I was un stripping the sofas, I found many treasures such as an old cane and many dogs hair, both belonging to her mum.
The french upholstery style Ask for more webbings to secure the seat, new springs & coconut fibres for the stuffing & hessian to cover it up.
Sophisticated stitches were then applied on the stuffing to make firm edges all around the seats, arms & back.
Another layer of coconut fibre, less condensed, were then applied to make the seat softer. The calico & wool wrap were added to keep the stuffing in place and protect the friction between the upholstery work and the fabric.
After a fabric wonder in Cork, my client fall in love From miles away with this retro fabric.
Once the fabric was fixed, we picked a traditional trimming rope in a cream colour to surround the beautiful shape of the sofa.
Together, we created the perfect balance between traditional & retro look.
She is now delighted to have a very special heirloom.
